On Wednesday, December 6, on the occasion of World Volunteering Day, our eighth grade students, accompanied by religion teacher Svjetlana Ivković, and teacher Ž. Trajbar and M. Gavrić had the extraordinary experience of visiting the soup kitchen at the Sisters of the Missionaries of Love. Students bravely tackled various tasks, such as serving food, cutting cakes and helping in the kitchen. Their diligence knew no bounds, and they also bravely took it upon themselves to wash the dishes for an incredible 122 users.
But that’s not all we experienced on that special day. We also had the opportunity to visit the monastery, which is a home for homeless people who do not have a roof over their heads. That experience touched us deeply and opened our eyes to the problems these people face every day. Nevertheless, despite all the challenges they face, the sisters of the Missionaries of Love provide them with a warm roof, food and love.
And we cannot forget to mention that our visit was enriched by the arrival of St. Nicholas. The students were overjoyed to receive a sweet chocolate bar from this beloved saint.
We can proudly say that we have decided to continue supporting the Missionaries of Love sisters and their humanitarian work. We look forward to the next visits and helping those who need it most, because we know that small gestures of kindness can have a big impact in other people’s lives.
