University of Pitesti* (www.upit.ro) is a state university, located in Pitesti, Arges. It aims being a dynamic and efficient higher education provider in the region. Currently it is a recipient for approx. 10.000 students from Muntenia region and has 700 paid teaching and staff. Activities of UPIT consist of: delivering courses, seminars, laboratories to students and other categories of professionals; providing professional re-conversion courses, through continuing training and OERs; performing research in the spirit of innovation and creativity to reinforce the Romanian society and to connect with the EU advancement; resolving issues of regional, national and international interest through its centres of excellence and research groups; performing exchanges of students, teaching staffs and researchers with foreign universities; organizing workshops, conferences and other scientific and cultural events at national and international level; publishing books, scientific journals.
