On Friday, April 11, 2025, the students of Class E1 from the 19th Primary School of Katerini participated in an educational visit to the Kapnikos Stathmos, as part of the Erasmus program implemented by our school under the theme “Walking the Paths of Volunteering” and within the framework of environmental awareness activities.
During the visit, the students were informed by Mr. Ilias Tsolakidis, head of the Kapnikos Stathmos, about the harmful effects of plastic water bottles on both human health and the natural environment. Through examples and interactive discussion, the children realized the importance of reducing the use of single-use plastics and the need for more sustainable choices in their daily lives.
This was followed by a hands-on activity, in which the students sorted bottle caps by color. These caps will be used in an ecological craft project, thereby reinforcing the message of reuse and creative recycling.
This activity proved to be a valuable experience for the students, strengthening their environmental awareness and cultivating responsible attitudes toward the environment.
